Canceling a Sale

Top  Previous  Next

General Information

If a sale is entered incorrectly, it is possible to cancel the sale and remove it from your system.  More common however is that a sale is entered and most of it was entered correctly but something needs to be changed, such as the APR or the down payment amount.  Whenever a change needs to be made to any pricing information, it is necessary to cancel the sale.  When canceling a sale, it is possible to save the deal back into the prospect file without losing the information that was entered.  You will only have to change the information that was incorrect instead of having to reenter everything.

Helpful Hints

When canceling a sale that was entered using the Add Pre-Existing or Purchased Customers program, the system will take you directly back to the Add Pre-Existing Customer program to make changes, rather than adding the customer back to the prospect file.

Information that does not impact pricing, such as the mileage at the time of the sale or the customer's address, can be changed without canceling the sale by

clicking on the Customer Activity button,
selecting a customer,
clicking on the Customer Processing button,
and finally clicking on the Customer Information and Costs button

You may want to keep sale information saved in the prospect file until you have reviewed all the forms.  After that, if the information is all correct then you can complete it as a sale.  While it is in the prospect file, changes can still be made to the pricing information and you do not have to cancel the sale first in order to make changes.
