General Information
Each contract is formatted so that they all are loaded into your printer the same way. The following describes how all forms should be lined up in Okidata 320 printer if it does not say TURBO on the front. Your box of white 9 1/2 by 11 inch continuous form computer paper should always be loaded in your printer by running the paper up through the back and attaching it to the sprockets (see your printer manual). This paper will never need to be removed - even when printing forms.
Helpful Hints
When a form is loaded for printing, it is important to make sure that you roll the paper to the horizontal red line just above the ribbon head (this is the higher of the two red lines) to make sure that the printing aligns correctly.
When printing a form, the left guide bar needs to be slid to the right as far as it can go to make sure that the printing lines up correctly.
How Do I Get There?
All steps are performed on the NON Turbo version of the Okidata printer
Step By Step
| 1. | Move the front cover up, or better yet, remove it completely. This simply gets in your way. |
| 2. | Move the continuous white report paper out of the way. This is a three step process. |
| a) | First - Press the PARK button on the front of the printer. This will move the paper back. |
| b) | Second - Move the lever on the right back of the printer. This lever is labeled - pulled forward it is in continuous form mode - pushed back it is ready to print forms. |
| c) | Third - Pull the lever on the left forward. This will move the paper holder out of the way while you line up your contract. |
| 3. | Line up your form. This is a 4 step process: |
| a) | First - Move the left paper guide as far to the right as it will go. |
| b) | Second - Align your form so the left side of the form is flush with this paper guide. Move the form into the printer and turn it in using the large knob on the right side of the printer. HINT: DO NOT use the automatic load mechanism located on the left side of the printer. |
| c) | Third - Align the top of the contract so it is even with the horizontal red line found just above the ribbon head. HINT: With most older Okidata 320 printers the right side of your form may be lower than the left at this stage. If it is, you may need to loosen the paper holder by pulling the right lever forward and moving the right side up with your hands and then pushing the right lever backward again. |
| d) | Fourth - Make room for wider contracts. If your contract is more than two parts you may need to move the blue "head gap" lever found on the left side of the printer ribbon toward you. This will create more room for the contract to move through the printer. |
| 4. | In Frazer, Click on the Print Highlighted Form Button to print the form. When the form moves past the paper holder you should push the left lever back to hold the paper in place. |
When Finished Printing Your Forms
| 1. | Pull the lever on the right forward. |
| 2. | Pull the lever on the left forward. This will bring the continuous form paper back into the printer. If the paper does not come forward when you pull this left lever forward you may need to make sure the SEL light on the left is turned off before pulling this lever forward. To do this simply press the SEL BUTTON and then pull the left lever forward again. When your paper is in place push the left lever back again and you are ready to print reports again. |
