Using Windows Vista As A Server

If no files or printers are already being shared from this PC with other PC’s in your business, follow the instructions below.  If this computer is already sharing files or printers with other computers at your dealership, SKIP the steps below.

If you have already installed Frazer on the computer but it’s NOT in C:\Users\Public, you will need to COPY/PASTE it to C:\Users\Public

 

1.Left click the Start Button.
2.Right click on Computer.
3.Left click on Properties.

4.Half way down the right side of the screen, LEFT click on “Change Settings”
5.LEFT click on continue (on the User Account Control warning window)
6.Halfway down the RIGHT side of System Properties window, LEFT click on Change button.

7.Change the Computer Name to SERVER.What is a server?

8.Change the Work Group name to the initials of your business name.
9.LEFT click on OK (on the Computer Name/Domain Changes window)
10.LEFT click (again) on the OK button on the window which reminds you that you’ll need to restart windows for the changes to take effect.
11.Before you SHUT DOWN and RESTART your computer, close all windows.  Make sure that you have FRAZER installed in the C:\Users\Public.
12.If you have already installed Frazer on the computer but it’s NOT in C:\Users\Public, you will need to COPY/PASTE it to C:\Users\Public.
