The OKIDATA 320 TURBO printer is recommended for printing from the FRAZER system. Some changes need to be made to the factory settings when you first receive your Okidata 320 printer. After you have made these changes you will be able to load your forms automatically into the printer and all your forms will line up perfectly.
On your printer, it is important that SEL be lit up to print. To load the paper, the SEL light should be off.
•
There is a lever on the right hand side of the printer to designate whether you are loading paper to print from the top or from the rear. It is important to make sure that this lever is in the correct position for your printing selection.
•
When loading paper from the top, the left guide bar should be as far to the right as possible and the form should be up against this left hand guide.
How Do I Get There?
All of these steps will be performed on the Okidata printer
Refer to pages E-1 through E-7 of the Okidata 320 printer manual to set up your printer and prepare to use it. You will want to set it up so that you can load a box of continuous plain white paper (9 1/2 x 11) onto the REAR continuous feed pins. Before you can begin using the printer to print on your contract, bill of sale, title application and other "single sheet" forms you will need to make some changes to the internal settings in the printer. These changes will allow the printer to properly print on forms that are longer than 11 inches.
Step By Step
Hint: Do not forget to do steps 12, 13 & 14.
1.
Be sure you have paper loaded in the printer.
2.
Using the buttons on the front of the printer hold down the SHIFT button and press the SEL/MENU button. The MENU light should come on.
3.
Press the LF/GROUP button. A line will print saying "Printer Control, Emulation Mode, IBM PPR". Don't adjust the paper to read this line, you should be able to read it by looking over the front of the printer. If it doesn't say IBM PPR, press the TEAR/SET button until it does. A line will print out each time that you press the button.
4.
Press the LF/GROUP button a second time and another line will print. Press the LF/GROUP button 4 more times waiting for the line to print each time. The last line that printed should read "TOP FEED LINE SPACING."
5.
Press the FF/LOAD/ITEM button once. The beginning of the line should now read "TOP FEED BOTTOM MARGIN." You want the last column on this line to read "INVALID." If it reads INVALID then go on to step 6; if it reads VALID then press the TEAR/SET button once to make it read INVALID.
6.
Press the FF/LOAD/ITEM button once. The line should read "TOP FEED, PAGE LENGTH, 11."

8.
Press LF/GROUP once.
9.
Press FF/LOAD/ITEM twice. The line should read "SET-UP, PAPER OUT OVERRIDE, NO."
10.
Press TEAR/SET once. The line should now read "SET-UP, PAPER OUT OVERRIDE, YES."
11.
Press FF/LOAD/ITEM 1 time and wait for it to print. Then, press the same button 9 more times. The line will read "SET-UP, AUTO SELECT, NO."
12.
Press TEAR/SET once. The line should now read "SET-UP, AUTO SELECT, YES."
13.
Now hold the SHIFT button down again and press the SEL/MENU button. The MENU light should go out. Press the FF/LOAD button to feed the rest of the paper out, BUT DON'T STOP YET!
14.
Load a plain sheet of paper using the TOP load method. Then make sure the paper is deselected (the SEL light is off).
15.
Press both SHIFT button and the LF/MICRO FEED DOWN button at the same time. Hold these two buttons down while the paper slowly backs into the printer. When the paper will not move any farther then press the SEL button.
16.
Lift up the plastic cover over the printer ribbon and pull the blue "head gap" lever on the left side of the ribbon all the way toward the front of the printer (giving more room for thicker forms to go through).
Once you have completed all these steps, check to make sure that your settings are correct. Check your changes: Checking Your Printer Settings.
